“Therapy can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings, and to develop healthier ways of coping with them.”

Therapy

Thank you for visiting my website.
I am an experienced and qualified accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor offering a service to adults over the age of 18. My professional knowledge, skills, training and experience enables me to appreciate and understand how to help people move forward when they are going through a difficult phase of their life. I am trained to integrate core themes from major theories and have evolved to blend many approaches to enhance my skills and practice.
I believe our relationship is key and I view therapy as a collaborative and shared experience. We will work together to find out what is happening in your life and the how this is affecting your mental health and emotional wellbeing. We will develop an understanding of what your struggles are and how you would like things to be different. This will help you to make decisions about areas in your life that you can change, but also acknowledge those aspects that you cannot change.
I currently work privately and offer my time to volunteering for a bereavement service in a supervisory capacity for students on placement. I also work with EAP organisations that offer a set short term session work of 6 to 8 sessions.
I offer an initial assessment appointment to assess your goals and expectations of the therapy space, which allows us both to work out if we will be a good fit together. I would then initially book 3 weekly sessions in, with intention of reviewing how this is going for you, which will then give us more of an idea of how to tailor the sessions to suit you and your presentation.
I can offer sessions best matched to your circumstances which could work out to be a short or long term piece of work tailored to your requirements.
For example, I have experienced people wanting the space to talk and be listened to and people having set goals of what they would like to change, as each person’s reason for accessing is unique to them. The sessions can be weekly or fortnightly sessions for short term and long term pieces of work. I also have people that like to check in 4 times a year after undergoing a set structured piece of work, to refresh/update strategies and skills or as a space of reflection.
It really is down to what you are looking for and whether I am the right person for you. The only way to answer that is to book an initial appointment to meet and discuss further to answer any further queries you may have.
I am also happy to offer a 20 minute phone call for any initial queries you may have before booking in with me.
